BiographyGrowing up in the city of stars meant that Angelica Maybeck always knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life: she wanted to be an actress, just like nearly every other girl her age. Her parents were as supportive of her goals as they possibly could be, considering neither of them knew the first thing about acting or had any connections they could get her in touch with, but they did have money, and they used it where they could, enrolling her in after school acting classes and paying for summer theater camps. The only line was drawn at anything that interfered with school -- get your high school diploma and we'll talk about getting you an agent, they promised -- but even then, if she had been picked out of the crowd at an open call to be the next big thing, all three of them knew that no one would tell her she'd have to turn it down because she hadn't finished her math requirement yet. And so Angelica went to auditions on the weekend to get her feet wet but otherwise was a typical high school student, active in the theater department, the track team, and the student council, founder of the school's best buddies program, and voted 'most talented' by her senior class. Once she crossed the stage to get her diploma, none of that mattered. It was time to get to work.

Angelica hit the ground running just weeks after graduating, found a part time receptionist job at a talent agency that helped her keep an ear to the ground for what was in the works, and spent the rest of her time searching for that perfect role that would make people take notice. It was more time spent fetching coffee, taking calls, and trying to make a good impression on people than acting until she landed a small independent film that sent her deep into Missouri for what turned out to be one of the most intense experiences of her life. She had never thought skinning a squirrel would be on her list of life events, but it was worth it when Winter's Bone became the little film that could, and Angelica the little actress who could, a former near-unknown landing her first Oscar nomination out of nowhere.

Finding work was a lot easier with award season clout to her name, and Angelica was able to quit her receptionist job and support herself on acting alone with a stream of steady work. She was recognized by directors and fellow actors for being a dedicated workhorse always looking for new ways to push herself, but not so blindly dedicated to her 'craft' that she became a complete black hole for fun. She rode the wave as far as it would take her, even if sometimes it only took her as far as a romantic comedy that normally wouldn't be her ideal, or a supporting role in an indie she knew no one would see. In between, she goofed around on late night TV in clips that would later go viral on youtube. She worked extensively with charities. She took Instagram-worthy vacations and had fun nights out with her friends, but stayed the one walking the (mostly) sober line, never too drunk for TMZ to catch her falling on her way to her car at the end of the night. As her career continued, her former buzziness over her Oscar cooled and became more of strange anomaly, a footnote in the biography of a likable actress with a steady and acceptable but mostly unremarkable career. Remember when Angelica Maybeck was nominated for an Academy Award? Wasn't that funny?

Ha ha, said Angelica.

2016 proved to be a strong year for the actress; not only did she have two successful Sundance showings with her film American Honey receiving more widespread critical recognition and positive reviews than anything she'd put out in years, she surprised many by being Marvel's pick to join their cinematic universe as Captain Marvel, the first female character to lead her own film in the history of the franchise. It was a series of events that Angelica hoped signified a new turning point for her career, a tipping of the scales that would take her from an enjoyable actress with some talent to a real star in her own right. But with two years ahead before Captain Marvel is set to release, in her mind, there's still plenty of time to do more -- like maybe remind everyone why she scored that first Oscar nod to begin with.

Personal Life Middleton filed for divorce from [] on April 27, 2011. A week later, she filed for and was granted a temporary restraining order against him under claims that he had been "verbally and physically abusive" throughout the course of their relationship. In her statement, she claimed that the latest incident of violence had taken place at a party on April 19 (the day of the video release for her film Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure), and provided witness statements and photographs of her injuries from that night.

In response, []'s lawyers stated that Middleton was "attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse", citing the lack of any police involvement despite her claims of multiple violent incidents. Middleton's lawyers released a follow up statement which said she had been initially reluctant to involve any law enforcement in order to "protect the privacy and careers of her and her husband", but "was given no choice in light of the vicious false allegations issued [by []'s team] with the intention of maligning her to the media". On June 12, a Middleton fan site published images allegedly of Middleton's injuries from an incident of domestic violence, depicting the actress with a black eye and bruises on her neck and arms. The following day, explicit personal photos of Middleton were released by an anonymous source on the online imageboard 4chan.

A settlement was reached in the divorce case on November 20, 2011, with Middleton receiving US$6 million and dismissing the restraining order against []. She issued a joint statement with [], which said that their "relationship was by no means perfect and was at times volatile, but was always She also dropped her lawsuit against Stanhope,[72] and issued a joint statement with Depp, which said that their "relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm."[71] Heard stated that she would donate the entire proceeds from the divorce to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children's Hospital Los Angeles.[71] The divorce was finalized in January 2017.[73]

Personality Although she is loath to admit being a competitive person and would claim that she only is interested in competing with herself, Angelica is highly competitive, highly motivated, and highly frustrated that she's yet to break the inivisible barrier between those who've nearly made it and the real stars of the moment. Her extraversion is real, but she's more serious than most people would suspect before working with her, and cares about her personal success and image to a degree that only people close to her understand. Self-identifies as ESFJ, is really more of an ENFJ.
